Project Description: 

Valmech, part of OCU Group, was appointed by E.ON to carry out repair works to a leaking section of underground district heating network at Bellshiel Grove, Newcastle.


The works involved investigatory excavation to locate and expose the leak, followed by mechanical repair and replacement of the affected pipework. Delivered within a live residential environment, the scheme required secure segregation, controlled access and careful coordination of isolation, excavation and reinstatement activities to ensure safety and minimise disruption to residents.

  • Established a secure working area using fencing and controlled access/egress to protect residents and the public

  • Undertook planned investigatory excavation using a combination of mechanical and hand-digging techniques

  • Coordinated repair activities through formal isolation permits and client approvals prior to system shutdown and re-pressurisation
